This is dark guitar based audio manipulation played out as an intricate form of deconstructed futuristic doom metal. While setting off in a firm drone doom manner it gradually develops in a myriad of different directions. From mechanical noise over catatonic atmospheres to outbursts of clearly executed doom metal and post-rock. Antipodes is a single 27 mins piece taking place in a claustrophobic space with heavy sounds and brutal machinery. It is however also characterized by frantic intersections, anxious overlaps and lots of delicate details inviting closer inspection.
With Antipodes a long way from orthodox metal, nccptr is an anonymous solo project by a former figure on the Portugese metal scene. The mission of the project is described as disfiguring doom metal in order to explore disquietude and hopelessness with higher level of abstraction.
The artwork is once again by Peter Drastrup who also did the artwork for DROWN12 (Scarpe Sensée by Aidan Baker & A-Sun Amissa).
